Men and women of every age can benefit from a facial. In addition to helping to maintain normal skin, they are invaluable for mild or severe skin care issues (e.g. acne, fine lines, dryness). It is almost impossible to get at home the level of deep cleansing and exfoliation obtainable in a salon. Additionally, a professional facial always includes a massage, making it overall a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience. First the skin is cleansed and exfoliated and an aroma peel applied to slough off dead cells, leaving it smooth and refined. Warm compresses are then applied to soften it and, if necessary, any small blockages can be popped out. This is followed by a relaxing massage to include the neck and shoulder pressure points and lymphatic drainage. Finally a face mask is applied for 10 minutes, followed by the application of toners and moisturisers. Generally speaking, traditional facials will work to keep your skin at its very best all year round if applied once a month. Alternatively many people choose to have a facial prior to a special event or just as a general pick-me-up.

LJM offers a wide selection of traditional facials, as well as providing a comprehensive choice of skin-firming treatments and 'non-surgical facelifts'. We have been awarded the coveted status of Diamond Salon by Darphin of Paris and all of their facials are on offer on the premises. Originally developed in the late 1950's by the renowned dermatologist, Pierre Darphin, these facials employ a combination of botanical aromas, plant extracts and active skin treatments. Natural organic ingredients, combined with proven safe technology, are also the key to the highly regarded range of Susan Molyneux facials.

Amongst our more specialised facial treatments is the original 'non-surgical facelift', using CACI (Computer-Aided Cosmetology Instrument) lifting and toning equipment. This works in harmony with the body's own bio-electrical field, transmitting tiny electrical impulses by micro current, which stimulate and tone the facial muscles. Similarly Harter Derm Toning utilises electrical impulses for firming and toning, resulting in a smoother skin. We also offer Futur-Tec skin regeneration treatment. This can tackle imperfections such as wrinkles, dull tired skin, acne and a proliferation of dead skin cells. Using a combination of laser, micro-current, ultrasound and vacuum, it produces a much smoother, glowing and more healthy skin after just an hour's treatment. Ultra Derm electro-therapy purifies and refines the skin, oxygenating it, and is combined with deep cleansing and moisturising treatments and a massage.

LJM also offers Botox and Restylane facial contouring, under medical supervision. Botox (a purified toxin) works to relax the muscles which cause frown and forehead lines and crows' feet, with the result that these diminish or disappear. Restylane is one of the 'fillers' that have largely replaced collagen as implants for redefining lips and other facial features. It works by filling or plumping up areas where the skin has lost its elasticity and there are folds and creases. Botox and Restylane will usually last for between 3 and 6 months before needing a top-up.

Darphin Haute Couture Facial (1 hr 30 mins) £40
Exclusive to selected salons, this is the most luxurious Darphin facial. It incorporates shiatsu massage to locate and stimulate congested areas of the body and deep tissue massage to improve the circulation and sculpt and lift the muscles of the face, neck and décolleté, in what is often referred to as a 'manual facelift'. The final massage is specifically designed to encourage lymphatic drainage and eliminate toxins from the body.

This intensive treatment from Susan Molyneux involves the application of a mask of freeze-dried collagen (an important protein constituent of the inner skin layer or dermis). The effect is to improve the skin's ability to hold moisture (this rises by 75% after just one treatment) and reduce wrinkle depth. This treatment is expecially effective for dry and mature skins. Courses of 6 recommended.

'The Lift' (1 hr) £30
A complete 'mini-lifting' treatment to tighten and tone the skin before make-up.

Oxygen Facial (1 hr) £35 (breathe in extra oxygen for 15 mins £5)

Ultra Derm Treatment (1 hr) £30
This combines deep cleansing, moisturising and oxygenating, using Susan Molyneux organic preparations (tailored to suit), and gentle electro-therapy. The effect is purifying, inhibiting blemishes, as well as hydrating the skin. A massage is included in the treatment.

Futur-Tec Anti-Ageing Treatment (1 hr) £35 (course of 5 £150)
A state-of-the-art treatment that uses laser, microcurrent, ultrasound and vacuum to achieve instant results. Combining seven phases, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, softening deep lines and wrinkles, for the ultimate anti-ageing experience.
